“We are witnessing a total collapse of infrastructure in Gaza, but [when we talk about] infrastructure we are not talking about cement. People often associate infrastructure with concrete, electricity or telecoms transmission lines. No, infrastructure is about people’s lives,” said the executive director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), speaking in Brussels.

On the sidelines of a forum on infrastructure in the service of community sustainability and resilience, held in the Belgian capital, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) said that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip “are already being penalised by bombings, more than 13,000 people have died”.
